Monumental Guilty Pleasures

Some people have foot fetishes, others are seduced by food. As an archaeologist, I simply cannot resist the temptation of ancient monuments. In this series I will explore some of my favourite archaeological monuments – big and small, old and young, some well-known, as well as several well-kept secrets.

Many of the sites are old haunts that I have taken to heart, or first loves that shaped my youth and inspired a love for archaeology. Others are new acquaintances, which I have admired from a distance, but have not had the opportunity to see in the flesh before, so now seems like the perfect excuse to take this opportunity to connect.
